Bok Tower (also known as Bok Mountain Lake Sanctuary and Singing Tower) is a contemplative garden, and bird sanctuary located north of Lake Wales, Florida. Edward W. Bok decided that the tower was to be built on one of the highest points of peninsular Florida, estimated to be 295 feet above sea level.

The Singing Tower is the centerpiece of the gardens. The Carillon at Bok Tower Gardens has 60 bells ranging in weight from 16 pounds to nearly 12 tons. The designer, John Taylor Bell foundry built his visionary masterpiece in 1928. The 60-bell carillon is set within the 205-foot tall, Gothic Revival and Art Deco tower that was designed by architect Milton B. Medary. The tower is surrounded by a 15-foot moat that serves as a koi pond. It is built of pink and gray marble mined out of Tate, Georgia and coquina stone from St. Augustine, Florida.

Construction on the tower began in 1927 and was completed for the dedication of the gardens in 1929, when it was dedicated by President Calvin Coolidge. Edward Bok died on January 9, 1930 and was interred at the base of the tower. Bok’s grandmother told him to “make you the world a bit better or more beautiful because you have lived in it”. The Bok Tower is a National Historic Landmark that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
